Mamelodi Sundowns Part Ways With Striker

South Africa Premier Soccer League champions Mamelodi Sundowns have parted ways with Argentine striker Emiliano Tade.

South Africa Premier Soccer League champions Mamelodi Sundowns have parted ways with Argentine striker Emiliano Tade.

The former Auckland City and Team Wellington forward joined the Brazilians in January 2019 on a two-year deal, having been snapped from another PSL side Amazulu.

Tade, 30, played three games for Sundowns without scoring but suffered a knee injury in one of the domestic matches last season.

In a statement, Sundowns noted: “Emiliano Tade approached the club to be released from his contract and the club has conceded after the player cited personal reasons.

“It was unfortunate to sustain an injury shortly after he joined Sundowns which hampered his progress to cement a place in the squad.

“He featured in a handful of games for the ABSA Premiership Champions but unfortunately, the player sustained a few other niggling injuries which have kept him off the field.”

However, Ducor Sports understands Tade’s release was part of the club strategy to reduce the number of foreign players as the technical bench prepares for Ricardo Nascimento’s return from injury.

Sundowns are currently sitting third on Absa Premiership table, 13 point adrift leaders Kaizer Chiefs, after 13 round of matches.
