Tunisian left-back Ali Maaloul says he hopes to remain at Egyptian side Al Ahly until the end of his playing days.

Tunisian left-back Ali Maaloul says he hopes to remain at Egyptian side Al Ahly until the end of his playing days.

Maaloul’s contract at the Red Devils is up at the end of the season, and it remains to be seen if the Cairo Giants will offer him a new deal.

But the 30-year-old Maaloul informed Ahly’s TV channel on Saturday that he wants to stay at the club he has served with distinction since joining at the beginning of the 2016/2017 season.

“Every season I receive one or two offers in every transfer market window,” Maaloul said on Saturday.

“The biggest offer ever was last summer, but Ahly officials asked me to stay and my decision was to stay out of respect for my contract and for Ahly fans,” he added.

Maaloul joined Ahly from Tunisia Ligue 1 side CS Sfaxien where he started his career from the club’s youth setup, before being promoted to the first team at the end of the 2008-2009 season.

The Tunisian international scored 36 goals and provided 43 assists in his eight seasons with his boyhood club.

He finished as the 2015/2016 Tunisian Ligue 1 top scorer with 16 goals, the highest-ever amount of goals scored by a defender in one season in the league’s history.

At Ahly, Maaloul has scored five goals and provided seven assists in 20 appearances in all competitions so far this season.
