Liberia: Invincible Eleven Acting President Resigns

Invincible Eleven Majestic Sports Association acting president Sekou Keita has resigned his post after serving for about two years.

Invincible Eleven Majestic Sports Association acting president Sekou Keita has resigned after serving in the position for about two years.

Keita was appointed early 2017 to temporarily take charge of the association until the election of the president and other officials, which according to Mr. Keita did not materialize.

“Unfortunately, all efforts to have elections for permanent officials have been unfruitful in the two years since,” Keita said in his letter of resignation.

Keita has at the same time expressed fear over the current status of the club as the new Liberia Football Association league kick off.

“I am even afraid of where we are now and going as a club then when I took over in early 2017.”

On the eve of the upcoming football league, the club is without direction and penniless, without an office and materials, without a strong playing team and proper support for the technical team. The usual way of doing business relaying on the president and select few to foot the bill of the club is ancient and unstainable- we must commit financially and professionally adhering to the strategic plan in possession by the board.”

He added, “It is incumbent upon the Board to find an entirely new administration to guide the club and to install a new, vibrant and transparent board, replacing the current group.”

Keita however stated that he is available to continue to contribute to the club, but not in the capacity as an Acting President.
