Legon Cities To Announce Deal With Osamoah Gyan In The Next Few Hours

Ghana Premier League moneybags Legon Cities are set to announce former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan as their new player.

Ghana Premier League moneybags Legon Cities are set to announce former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan as their new player.

The former Sunderland forward agreed to terms with Cities after a series of talks with the club officials and is satisfied with the offer of a long-term contract.

There are still some outstanding issues to resolve but Cities expect Gyan to put pen to paper in the coming hours on a deal worth $150,000.

Gyan, who spent last season at Indian Super League outfit North East United FC, had previously been linked with his childhood club Asante Kotoko.

Goran Barjaktarevic has huge faith in Gyan’s talent and has backed him to shine in the domestic league having plied his trade in Italy, France, England, United Arab Emirates, China and Turkey.

But football analysts have made it clear that Cities are signing the Ghanaian International to boost the club’s commercial value as well as increase its fan base with the signing of Ghana’s all-time leading top scorer.

Gyan left North East United after picking up an injury against ATK in Indian Super League back in December 2019.

Gyan played three World Cup finals (2006, 2010 and 2014) scoring six goals, the maximum by an African. Three of them came in the 2010 World Cup when Ghana lost to Uruguay in the quarter-final with Gyan missing a late penalty.
