Kotoko Set To Wrap Up $150k Deal For Ugandan Defender Next Week

Asante Kotoko are hoping to wrap up a $150,000 deal for former Wydad Casablanca defender Murushid Juuko next week.

Asante Kotoko are hoping to wrap up a $150,000 deal for former Wydad Casablanca defender Murushid Juuko next week.

According to a source privy to the situation, the deal is as good as done after the star’s representatives and Kotoko reached an agreement this week.

Juuko has been discussing personal terms with the Porcupine Warriors, and contrary to reports that he has put pen to paper, Ducor Sports has been told otherwise.

“Juuko has not completed the move yet but it is going to happen, it is a process and everything has to be followed to the letter,” the source told Ducor Sports.

“We expect him to finalize everything with next week. They are the only team he has been in talks with at this stage,” added the source.

The 26-year-old marksman is set to have been offered a three-year deal but that will be split into a two-year contract with an option to renew for one year, the source revealed.

“It’s a three-year deal but the final year will be optional, meaning he will sign a two-year deal with an option to renew for a further one season.”

“However, I think the club will announce the deal once Kotoko receives his medical report,” concluded the source.

Juuko parted ways with Wydad several months ago and was previously linked with a move to South African side SuperSport United.

Having joined Wydad from Tanzanian champions Simba SC at the beginning of the 2019/2020 Botola campaign, the highly-rated defender could not make his mark with the Lions of Africa and his contract was terminated.

Juuko represented Uganda in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Egypt where he sustained an injury during the first game against DR Congo.

It is worth mentioning that the former Cranes youth international helped Simba win their first Tanzanian Premier League title since 2012, before moving to Morocco.
