Kenyan League: Big Wins for Mahia, Sofapaka

The race for the Kenyan Premier League gong continues with closest contenders Gor Mahia and Sofapaka registering massive wins over the weekend.

Gor Mahia have an advantage as they enjoy a seven-point lead at the summit with their Saturday’s win over Nzoia United only helping consolidate their position.

Staged at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu County, Mahia rode almost effortlessly to grab their fourteenth win of the season.

They’re on forty-seven points in twenty-two games with a game in hand, drawing five times with just three losses.

Sofapaka aren’t resting on their laurels either, making their superiority count against Chemelil, pounding them 4-1.

Kakamega Homeboyz have ambition of gatecrashing the top but must first narrow down the ten point difference between them and the top twos.

The Bukhungu Stadium outfit won 2-1 against Thika United.

In a round up of other showdowns, Bandari conceded to Kariobang Sharks with Mathare United beating Western Stima 2-1 in a relegation dogfight as Muhoron Youth tied Ullinzi Stars goalless.

Elsewhere, SoNy Sugar did their chances of surviving the drop good, swaggering over mid-table Tusker 2-0 with Leopards savaging Zoo Kericho 3-1.
