Kaizer Chiefs Held By Resilient Horoya

South Africa Premier Soccer League giants Kaizer Chiefs  were left frustrated as they drew 0-0 with Guinea’s Horoya AC in their opening African Champions League, Group C clash at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday night.

Kaizer Chiefs started the better of the two teams when Nicola Nurkovic saw his effort from just inside the box strike the upright before bouncing away from danger.

In the 25th minute some great individual skill from Nkosingiphile Ngcobo saw him create space for himself just outside the box, but his thunderous effort went narrowly wide of the target.

Ten minutes later Willard Katsande met a corner-kick with a strong header, but he saw his ten-yard attempt brilliantly saved by keeper Moussa Camara.

The half ended 0-0.

Two minutes after the break Nurkovic found the back of the net for Kaizer Chiefs, but his header was disallowed off for offside.

Four minutes later, the Serbian attacker had the ball in the back of the net for the second time, but he was once again flagged for offside

In the 56th minute, Morlaye Sylla received a low pass just outside the box and drilled a fine strike towards goal, but saw his attempt magnificently palmed away by Khune.

Horoya created their second real chance on goal only in the 70th minute when Ocansey Mandela powered an 18-yard shot narrowly over the crossbar.

Ten minutes later Horoya were at it again when Dramane Nikiema met a precise pass with a nice touch on the edge of the box and produced a shot on goal, but the Kaizer Chiefs keeper was up to the task.

Neither side could find a winner as the points were shared in the 0-0 draw.

The result sees Kaizer Chiefs siting in third place in Group C with one point from their historic CAF Champions League group stages debut while Horoya top the group with four points from their two games.

Wydad Casablanca are second with three points while Petro de Luanda are bottom with zero points.
