Jozef Vukusic Sacked As Amazulu Coach

Amazulu have sacked head coach Jozef Vukusic after identifying a catalogue of his failings at the club in the 2019-2020 season.

Amazulu have sacked head coach Jozef Vukusic after identifying a catalogue of his failings at the club in the 2019-2020 season.

The Slovakian coach was placed under special leave in March just before the suspension of the Absa Premiership because of the coronavirus pandemic.

He has now been informed his fate following five-months of suspension with Ayanda Dlamini set to continue to be in-charge of the club on interim basis.

“After an extensive consultation process, the club has decided to terminate the services of Mr Jozef Vukusic with immediate effect,” read a statement from the club.

“The club will continue to support Mr Ayanda Dlamini as the caretaker coach until further notice.”

The 55-year-old Vukusic is reported to have had a rift between him and players and failure to allow some of his technical team to advice him.

“Management will not be entertaining any further engagements on this matter, as the club looks to turn all its focus in steering away from the current log position,” adds the statement.

Vukusic joined the club in September last year replacing Cavin Johnson and  struggled to live up to expectations after his successful spell with Polokwane City.

“On behalf of the AmaZulu Football Club family, we would like to thank Mr Vukusic for his efforts and wish him the best of luck in future,” said AmaZulu FC General Manager, Lunga Sokhela.
