Is Township Rollers Coach Leaving The Club?

The future of Frank Nuttal was unclear late on Thursday with unconfirmed reports stating the Township Rollers coach had quit the club.

The future of Frank Nuttal was unclear late on Thursday with unconfirmed reports stating the Township Rollers coach had quit the club.

As speculation raged on Thursday night, neither club officials nor Nuttal would confirm the reported resignation.

However, two sources within Rollers’ structures said the Scottish had left after a fallout over the running of club matters.

When contacted on Friday, Nuttal was not reachable while a subsequent call to Rollers team manager, Motshegetsi Mafa, also provided little clarity.

Mafa said he could not comment and cut short the conversation to take another call.

Also on Thursday, Botswana soccer page 90 Plus Football reported that Nutall was set to leave Rollers. The report quoted a source as saying he had already said goodbye to the players.

If true, the move would come like a bolt out of the blue.

Botswana Premier League was suspended on March 12 due to the coronavirus situation in the country, and many expected Rollers to go for the title.

Nutall was appointed in January on a short-term contract, taking over from Thabo Motang who was the stand-in coach at the club.

The 51-year-old coach once coached Gor Mahia in 2016 before joining Zamalek as an assistant coach.

The Scotsman was to later join Hearts of Oak in Ghana in 2017 and Sudanese side El Hilal Ol Obeid before leaving the club in 2018.
