Iheanacho Nominated for the PFA Player of The Month Award

Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho has been nominated for the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award for March.

The 24-year-old, who joined Leicester City from Premier League giants Manchester City in the summer of 2017, scored five superb Premier League goals.

He began March by scoring only his second goal of the PL season with a volley in a 1-1 draw at Burnley while the second came in a 2-1 win at Brighton & Hove Albion, before netting a first Foxes hat-trick in a 5-0 win over Sheffield United at King Power Stadium.

He then extended his tally to seven with a brace of efforts in a victory against Manchester on Filbert Way, securing Leicester’s place in the semi-finals of the Emirates FA Cup for the first time since 1982.

Another African player on the  PFA Fan’s player of the month list is Manchester City’s forward and Algerian forward Riyad Mahrez, who bagged three goals in four league games last month, including his brace against Southampton.

The duo faces competition from Luke Shaw (Manchester United), Alexandre Lacazette (Arsenal), Jesse Lingard (West Ham United) and Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur).

Last week, Iheanacho, was named Premier League Player of the Month for March becoming the fourth Nigerian player to win the award, after Jay Jay Okocha, Peter Odemwingie and Odion Ighalo.
