Guinea Part Ways With Coach Kaba Diawara

The Normalization Committee that run Guinea Football Federation ( FGF) has confirmed they have parted ways with head coach Kaba Diawara.

Diawara’s release comes after FGF decided not to renew Syli Nationale coach’s contract, which expired at the end of January.

The former Arsenal star had declared his intention to continue as Guinea coach, but contract negotiations collapsed on Friday.

Diawara was named as Guinea’s head coach by FGF in December after Didier Six was  sacked following Syli Nationale’s failure to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup play-offs.

During his period as a head coach, Diawara led the National Elephants in six games, three of which he won and two he tied.

However, his team’s performance at AFCON left Guineans divided on his performance with many of pundits holding him responsible for poor performance.

Following that, FGF decided that it was time to look for a change as they decided not to renew Kaba Diawara’s contract and also fired his staff from their position.

A statement from FGF assured football fans they will appoint the new technical bench as soon as possible, “The Normalization Committee Memberswill sit down and start the excise of searching for a new coach as soon as possible because we are not going to leave the vacuum for long.”
