The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has barred Gor Mahia coach Roberto Oliveira Goncalves do Carmo aka Robertinho from sitting on the bench in all the team’s 2020/2021 African Champions League matches.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has barred Gor Mahia coach Roberto Oliveira Goncalves do Carmo aka Robertinho from sitting on the bench in all the team’s 2020/2021 African Champions League matches.

The Brazilian gaffer, who joined K’Ogalo in October this year, is not a holder of CAF A License or UEFA Pro License which is required for all coaches participating in the African football governing body’s inter-club competitions.

Robertinho holds License B Brazil and CAF C License which bars him from sitting on the bench until he acquires prerequisite qualifications.

His back-up staff led by assistant coach Patrick Odhiambo will handle all matters for the team in the 90 minutes of play.

Gor Mahia will face Armée Patriotique Rwandaise Football Club (APR FC), the champions of Rwanda in the preliminary round.

The Kenyan champions will travel to Rwanda for the first leg between 27-29 November before hosting their opponents in the following week.

Should they progress through to the second preliminary round, they will face the winner in the match between CR Belouizdad of Algeria and Libyan side El Nasr.
