Ghana’s Schlupp Ruled Out for the Remainder of the Season

Ghana has been handed a major concern ahead of 2019 AFCON after Crystal Palace winger Jeffery Schulpp was ruled out for the remainder of the season with an ankle injury.
The left-footed utility man was taken off during his side’s 3-1 losslos Manchester City a fortnight ago and he has now confirmed that he will not take part in the remaining matches of the season. “Unfortunately my season has come to an end a few weeks early due to an injury. Time to work hard and come back stronger ready for preseason, ” he tweeted.
His coach Roy Hodgson confirmed the same adding that his side has been unlucky to pick injuries in the later stages of the season.
“We have been a little bit unlucky in this latter period, it started with Mamadou, then we lost James and now we’ve lost Jeff, which is of course three big blows for us,” he told the club website.
According to the former England national team coach, Schlupp will heal in around three weeks handing Ghana a major boost ahead of June 2019 AFCON.
“He won’t play again this season, the ankle injury is such that it will take the three or so weeks we have left (to heal).
The Englishman is however adamant that his side can cope without the injured players for the remaining matches of the season.
“Fortunately, we don’t have quite so many other injuries to deal with but we are getting down to our bare bones, but I guess we aren’t alone in that respect, late in the season teams do get depleted,” he added.
