Ghanaian Midfielder Joins Canadian Side Atletico Ottawa

Ghanaian midfielder Osah Bernardinho has completed his move to Canadian side Atletico Ottawa, the club announced on their official website on Thursday.

Ghanaian midfielder Osah Bernardinho has completed his move to Canadian side Atletico Ottawa, the club announced on their official website on Thursday.

The 23-year-old, who has been called up for the Black Stars but is yet to make his international debut, joins from Belgian side Heist for an undisclosed fee.

Bernardinho joined Heist from ASV Geel last summer where he scored two goals in 14 appearances.

A product of Ghana’s Accra Great Olympics, Bernardinho becomes the twelfth player to join the side after the side snapped up the likes of Francisco Acuña, Ben Fisk, Antoine Coupland and Malyk Hamilton.

‘We are delighted to present Bernardinho as an Atlético Ottawa player,” the club CEO, Fernando Lopez told the club website.

“He is a powerful attacking winger that can play in both sidelines of the pitch. We are sure he will contribute to the team recovering balls, on the creation of plays, exploiting the offensive game and assisting and scoring goals.”

Bernardinho moved to Europe in 2017 after excelling in his short stint with Accra Great Olympics in the Ghana Premier League.

He signed with Westerlo in Belgium’s second division after going on a trial with Dutch club Willem II earlier that same year.

The winger made 16 appearances in his first season with Westerlo, scoring once in a Belgian Cup match.

The following season he went on loan with third-division side ASV Geel, and it was there that he began to come into his own by scoring six goals in 29 league appearances.
