Gambia have been feted king of African beach volleyball following an emphatic upset on Morocco.

The duo of Qatar-based volleyball players Sainey Jawo and Ebou Babou Jarra started out their campaign on a defeat but recuperated to pull off a shock which included a heart-wrenching upset on hosts Morocco.

Gambia, a nation boasting of a two million population, swaggered over Morocco in the first phase of things before completing a double over the North Africans this evening on a 2-1 score.

Today’s outing is Gambia’s first gold in the ongoing All-African Games and makes up for the exit of their Judo team.

The West Africans also have a solid team in athletics teeing off August 25th headlined by Islamic Games 1oom gold medalist track queen and Commonwealth 200m semi-finalists Gina Bass.
