FIBA Africa Champions Cup 2017: Association Sportive de Sale (Morocco) Progress to the Finals for the 1st time ever to Face Etoile Sportive Rades (Tunisia).

Association Sportive de Sale beat Sport Libolo e Benfica 97-86 to secure a place in the finals against Tunisian side Etoile Sportive Rades who saw off Union Sportive Monastir of Tunisia 74-69 in a hard-fought tie.

The first quarter ended in favor of Libolo who had a two-point lead 23-21 and the Angolan side continued where they left off, increasing the lead to eight. With 2:46 minutes left on the clock, Najah’s power play in the low post reduced the gap to two points -38-36.

Kourdou gave AS Sale a one-point lead at the close of the second quarter 43-42 and they took charge from then on commanding a nine-point lead going into the fourth quarter. It was then a double-digit lead with seconds to go as AS Sale led 94-84. A layup by Forster for Libolo followed by free-throws brought the hard-fought tie to an end with AS Sale winning 97-86 Libolo.

Union Sportive Monastir lost their first game of the Championships cup against Etoile Sportive Rades. The game had its own drama as there was a technical foul on ES Rades coach. With seconds left on the clock, El Mabrouk‘s jump shot gave ES Rades a three-point lead and a steal by Mohamed summed up the game at 74-69 in favor of ES Rades.
