Farouk Miya Attracts Interest From Red Bull Salzburg

Australian club Red Bull Salzburg are said to be eyeing for Ugandan International Farouk Miya, who has been in fine form for Turkish side Konyaspor.

Australian club Red Bull Salzburg are said to be eyeing Ugandan International Farouk Miya, who has been in fine form for Turkish side Konyaspor.

According to media reports in Turkey, Salzburg has been following the 22-year-old striker’s progress and are impressed.

An offer to Konyaspor may be made soon in what is understood as their second attempt to get the player, who was previously linked with a move to the Austrian Bundesliga giants in 2016.

“The scouts have been on his trail for a while now and they seem convinced that he is ready for Austrian football. Teams from Australia want his services and it all depends on which one will come up with a better offer, but from the look of things, it’s likely to be Salzburg,” a source told Ducor Sports.

Miya joined Konyaspor in 2019 from HNK Gorica of Croatia and has scored five goals in 19 league appearances this season for the club.

While at HNK Gorica he was sent on loan twice with the first stint coming in 2017 where he was at Royal Excel Mouscron before another spell at Sebail.

Before moving abroad, Miya played for Uganda Premier League side Vipers SC from 2013 to 2016 where he was snapped up by Standard Liege of Belgium.

The youngster was part of the Ugandan team in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt where they exited the tournament in the Round of 16.

Miya has scored 19 goals in 58 matches for Cranes since his debut in 2014.
