Fallen Togo Striker Kossi Koudagba Set For Interment

Kossi Koudagba, the ASC Kara and Togo player who passed away on Thursday 18 June will be laid to rest on Saturday 27 June at his home in Davie area of Lome.

The striker’s family and friends are expected to come together for a vigil on Friday evening at his residence in the capital before leaving on Saturday morning for the burial.

Approximately one thousand fans and some twenty international teammates will be present in Davie to pay their last respects to the football star Koudagba, who died of Malaria at the age of 25.

A key member of the Togo national team that qualified for the 2020 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN), his manager Claude Le Roy is expected to be one of the top dignitaries to attend the burial.

Koudagba had made to the pre-selection of the Sparrow Hawks for the tournament scheduled in April before being postponed by the Confederation of African Football due to the coronavirus pandemic.

So far tributes have been pouring in for the fallen striker with the Togolese Football Federation (FTF) sharing its condolences with the family and friends of marksman.

“In these painful circumstances, the Executive Committee of the FTF wish to salute the memory of the player, whose qualities on and off the field are known to all,” the FTF said in a statement.

“The FTF Executive Committee would like, on behalf of Togolese football, to express our deepest condolences and express our feelings of sympathy to the family of the deceased, loved ones, the ASCK club, as well as the staff and players of the Togo national team.”
