Exclusive: RS Berkane Agree On a Deal in Principle to Sign Congolese Forward

Renaissance Sportive de Berkane have agreed on a deal with AS Vita to bring midfielder Jean-Marc Makusu to Morocco at the end of the season.

Renaissance Sportive de Berkane have agreed on a deal with AS Vita to bring center-forward Jean-Marc Makusu to Morocco at the end of the season.

The Oranges have confirmed the switch has been agreed in principle and on the framework of a contract of undisclosed value for a year has been discussed.

RS Berkane rivals Raja Casablanca had previously tried to sign the DR Congo international back in December last year but the Black Dolphins were not prepared to lose him back then.

Makasu is likely to partner with Burkinabe forward Alain Traore at the heat of Berkane’s forward line next season. He will bring more drive and power to Mounir Jaouani’s striking force.

Jaouni is believed to be a huge admirer of the player, who re-joined the Congolese side from Wadi Degla after terminating the deal with the Egyptian side.

Makasu has been mostly been reliable in attack for the Black Dolphins. Late last year, he broke the official club record of 12 goals set by Firmin Mubele Ndombe at the continental stage during the 2014 CAF Champions League.

His tally now reads 17 goals, with the other four coming during a previous stint with the Florent Ibenge coached outfit.

RS Berkane must now look to improve the left-back options as well. Jaouani needs to find a top quality backup for Hamza Regragui and drop one of their foreign quota to create room for the Congolese star.
