Ethiopia Name 25-Man Squad For AFCON 2021

Ethiopia national team head coach Wubetu Abate has finally named his final squad that will travel to Cameroon to participate in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

The team captain and Misr Lel-Makkasa will lead the Walia Ibex will lead the team in their group opening match against Cape Verde on January at Olembe Stadium.

Ethiopia have also named JS Kabylie attack Mujib Kassim in the squad despite reports that the player is nursing an injury.

Other names to make the final party include experienced midfielder Gatoch Panom, Hawassa striker  Mesfin Tafesse and Dawa Hottesa of Hawassa.

Coach Abate has named only one domestic player in the squad for the African football’s flagship event that is set to kick off in Cameroon on January 9.

As well as taking on taking Cape Verde in Group A, Ethiopia will also face five-time winners Cameroon and Burkina Faso.

Ethiopia, who will be making their 11th appearance in the competition, will play three friendly games in preparation for the tournament.
