Esperance Targeting First Win Over Jwaneng Galaxy

Esperance de Tunis will look for a fast start to their Group Campaign in the CAF Champions League when they host Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy at the Stade Olympique de Rades on the evening of Saturday 12 February.

Kick-off is at 13h00 GMT.

The Blood and Gold Stars reached the group stage after defeating Libyan side Al Ittihad in the first round tie back in October 2021.

The tie ended 1-0 on aggregate and the four-time African champions booked their ticket to the group stages of the competition.

Esperance go back into the action to competitive action with successive wins over Mentaloui and Hammam- Sousse in the Tunisia Ligue 1.

They will look to Ghaylene Chaalali who has been in a great form in the past three matches of the Tunisian top-flight league.

Meanwhile, Jwaneng Galaxy booked their place in the last 16 after eliminating Tanzanian giants Simba  Sports Club in October 2021.

The Botswana Premier League side had lost 2-0 at home but they gave a fight for the ages, winning 3-1 and proceeding on the away goal rule.

Galaxy will be has been boosted by the fact that Namibia’s Wendell Rudath and the South African duo of Themba Dhladhla and Lucky Mokoena will be available for selection.

This will be the first meeting between the two sides and many are expecting that Esperance will easily collect three points basing on the club’s experience at the continental level.
