Equatorial Guinea Appoint Juan Micha, Castor Nopo As Joint Head Coaches

Juan Micha Obiang and Castor Nopo Abeso have been appointed joint coaches for Equatorial Guinea national side.

Juan Micha Obiang and Castor Nopo Abeso have been appointed joint coaches for the Equatorial Guinea national side.

The Equatorial Guinea Football Federation (FEGUIFUT) made a move after failing to secure the signature of Portuguese gaffer Jorge Costa.

Micha and Nopo have reportedly signed five-month contracts and will lead the team in qualifying for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

“FEGUIFUT executive board had decided that Juan Micha Obiang and Castro Nopo Abeso will be the trainers for the remaining (Africa cup of Nations qualifiers) games, due to their experience and for having been with the majority of Nzalang National trainers,” said the federation president Gustavo Ndong Edu

“After these two games, from January there will be a further meeting of the executive board to officially name the Equatorial Guinea trainer.”

Equatorial Guinea are preparing for must-win back-to-back 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Libya.

The Nzalang National are at the bottom of Group J with zero points and will be facing the Mediterranean Knights between 9th and 17th November.

Equatorial Guinea will be away in Cairo to play Libya on 11th November, at the Al Zalam Stadium in Egypt.
