Eight Coaches Sacked in Tunisian League in a Frenzy Managerial Clear-out

Eight coaches have been shown the exit in a massive managerial revamping by clubs in Tunisia. Players are usually the majority given the electric broom treatment but in the case of the Tunisian top and second tiers, it’s the gaffers facing the axe.

The managerial overhaul perhaps signals the growing ambition of club boards’ penchant to set high standards, a pressure piling on team coaches.

Only five clubs have managed to stick with their coaches from last season namely; Club Athlétique Bizertin, CO Mednine, Etoile Sportive du Sahel, Jeunesse Sportive Kairouanaise, and of little surprise, Espérance Sportive of Tunis who clinched the top division title.

The hiring and firing trend is not uncommon in the North African country but the development means a new man will oversee the dug-out rooms of each of the eight clubs that have parted with their managers.

However, the upside for the domestic league is that Tunisian clubs prefer tying down home grown coaches to contracts with five out of the eight teams, employing native Tunisians as replacements.

Sfxaien Sports Club, Stade Gabisien and Club Africain Sporting are the only sides to have opted for foreign coaches from France, Portugal, and Italy.
