Ducor Sports Star of the Week

Bidvest Wits made a big statement on Tuesday when they thrashed their biggest rivals Kaizer Chiefs 3-1 in South Africa’s Absa Premier Soccer League encounter at the FNB Stadium.

The Clever Boys new Namibian winger, Deon Hotto showed a great form when he scored again in his second premiership match since joining the club.

Against Free Sate Stars on Saturday he scored from close range after beating the opponent’s goalkeeper following a quick move by his team mates in a 3-0 victory for his first goal.

And on Tuesday, Otto added his second on the tally as Wits beat Kaizer Chiefs, a performance which was good enough to earn him Man of the Match honours for matchday two in the Premier Soccer League.

The winger is going to be hard for the rest of the Africa to ignore this week after scoring that very stunning goal from some yards outside the box in the match against Glamour Boys and so did his overall performance.

Who is Dean Hotto?

Deon Hotto was born on 29 October 1991 in Swakopmund, a small town in coast western Namibia and started his footballing career at the SFC Academy in his home town for the U/13-U/17 team.

He later joined Swakopmund United and then went back to SFC senior team. He stayed there for two seasons and later joined Blue Boys for a season before being signed by African Stars 2012/2013 where he played for eight months and then landed a contract with Golden Arrows.

At the end of 2015 season the left-footed player left The Backheel Boys and joined Bloemfontein Celtic to continue doing what he loves most playing football.

A versatile player, who can play as left-back and left-winger played an important role in helping Celtic survive relegation last season.

Ever since his first call up to the Namibian national team back in year 2013, he has been the poster boy of the Southern Africa nation’s football as his scintillating form and footwork on the field made his name synonymous to not only brilliance but ‘hot’.

How does it feel to be player of the match?

In an interview with a South Africa based television, SuperSport Tv, immediately after Kaizer Chiefs match, Hotto insisted that he just stuck to the basics as he was just following the coach instructions, the same thing that he did in the league opener.

he said.

“I’m doing what the coach is telling me to do and adding in my own style and ideas.”

Hotto also went on to explain why he decide join the Clever Boys at the start of the 2018/19 campaign with a number of suiters after him.

“The reason why I chose Bidvest Wits is because there is a group of players with a lot of medals and cups. I’m looking forward to being a part of them,” added the midfielder.

“I’m just taking this step-by-step.”
