DR Congo’s Mbokani Labelled “Best Attacker” in Belgium

DR Congo’s hotshot Dieumerci Mbokani has been heaped with adulations after being tagged as the “best attacker” in Belgium.

The Antwerp striker has refused to be held back by age, plundering a total ten goals in twenty-nine starts, twenty-seven of them being from the starting lineup.

Mbokani was due to feature in yesterday evening’s 1-1 tie with Anderlecht in the title play-offs but was ruled out owing to a suspension.

And former Belgium star Marc Van der Linden feels difference would have shown had Dieumerci starred, insisting he’s the best there is of attackers in the Belgian First Division A.

“I expect Bolingi to replace him (Mbokani) because he is one of the favorite players of Bölöni, but you never know. Mbokani is very important. I hadn’t expected him that strong either (after his return to the league this season). He is currently the best attacker in Belgium,” he told Het Laatste Nieuws.

League juggernauts Anderlecht are on his trail hoping for a reunion after he left them in the 2012/13 domestic season for Ukraine’s Dynamo Kyiv, later culminating in stops at then English Premier League outfits Hull and Norwich City.

The Royals hope acquisition of the former Monaco man will aid their crusade to regain dominance of the division and bolster an attacking frontline sort of gripped by goal profligacy.

That task should be made easy with the forward expected to be a free agent by next month.

Inquiries have been made in the assumption that Antwerp won’t pin him down on an extended deal in return for a favor by securing a player on loan from Anderlecht.
