DR Congo Giants TP Mazembe Re-appoint Former Coach

Democratic Republic of Congo giants TP Mazembe have decided to re-appoint Pamphile Mihayo in a deal that will see him at the club for the next three seasons.

Democratic Republic of Congo giants TP Mazembe have decided to re-appoint Pamphile Mihayo in a deal that will see him at the club for the next three seasons.

The development come a month after the club’s management was reported to be finalizing talks with the 46-year-old gaffer.

Mihayo previously coached the Ravens from 2017 before leaving the club in March this year after they were eliminated by Raja Casablanca in last season’s African Champions League.

A statement from the club website on Wednesday confirmed that an agreement has been signed, adding that Mihayo has already arrived in the country.

“In accordance with the club’s decision-making process, the meeting sports committee decided to appoint Pamphile Mihayo Kazembe back from a training camp at Ravens as head coach,” reads part of the statement as translated from French.

Draven Cvetkovic had been in-charge since the middle of this year having replaced Mihayo following a poor 2020 African Champions League campaign.

Mihayo, who won the CAF Champions League twice with Mazembe in 2009 and 2010, picked up the squad after the huge setback and managed to see them through to the 2017 African Confederations Cup last 16.
