Former Fulham star Diomansy Kamara ripped into yesterday’s football awards over the decision to hand Messi the prize instead of his countryman Sadio mane.

Mane was considered only good at fourth position with his teammate Mohamed Salah coming close at fifth as Messi added the Ballon d’Or to his trophy cabinet.

Delivering his assessment of how matters unfolded, 39-year-old Kamara tagged Messi as an “alien” player but believes his compatriot marched the Argentine’s standards this season.

“Europe is not ready, we do not have the same time zone and in their subconscious, we (Africa) are not able to win this kind of trophy,” he said.

Visibly angered, the erstwhile Celtic man said he wouldn’t have attended if he were competing.

“Messi is a winner, he’s undeniable and undisputed, he’s an alien, but Sadio was on his planet this season. This will not be the first time or the last time that Africa will be harmed. Personally I will not participate in this masquerade,” he says.
