CS Sfaxien Handed Injury Blow Ahead Of Tusker Clash

CS Sfaxien has been handed a blow ahead of Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup play-off first leg match against Kenyan side Tusker FC.

The Tunisian giants will face Kenyan champions at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi where Sfaxien target to get favorable results but injury to key man Firas Chaouat has rocked their camp.

Chaouat twisted and injured his leg while turning out for Sfaxien in the 2-1 win over Hammam Lifois at Stade de Soliman last Sunday.

On Thursday, the club’s medical team confirmed that the striker will be away from the field for a period of six weeks.

Sfaxien qualified for Confederation Cup playoff round after beating Bayelsa United of Nigeria 4-1 0n aggregate.

In the second-leg match that ended 4-0 in Tunis, Chaouat netted the fourth goal that came in the first stanza , after Chris Kouakou, Mohamed Ben Ali and Aymen Harzi placed their names on the scores sheet.

CS Sfaxien travelling party is set to arrive in  Kenya on Thursday morning  ahead of the clash that will be open to spectators.

Giovanni Solinas’ charges will have three training sessions at Utalii College grounds before having the feel of the Nyayo National Stadium pitch on Saturday.
