Cranes Provisional Squad For CHAN Finals Named

The Uganda Cranes technical bench has named a provisional squad of 28 players for the next month’s African Nations Championship in Cameroon.

The Uganda Cranes technical bench has named a provisional squad of 28 players for the next month’s African Nations Championship in Cameroon.

According to a statement from the Federation of Uganda Football Associations, the team begins preparations on Sunday, December 20, 2020 with the exception of KCCA players who are travelling to Rwanda for an Africa Confederation Cup qualifier.

New faces in the squad include Police’s Muhamood Hassan, Uganda U-20 trio of Aziz Kayondo, Ivan Bogere and Bobosi Byaruhanga as well as BUL FC’s on form striker Joseph Ssemujju.

Cranes will play in the invitational four-nation tournament in Cameroon prior to the CHAN 2020 finals tournament.

Experienced Police FC star Tonny Mawejje was named among six midfielders expected to help Uganda make their mark their fifth successive appearance in the finals.

Vipers striker Mohammed Shaban and Proline FC ‘s Ivan Bogere were also recalled to join the national team once more.

Uganda have been drawn in Group C alongside Morocco, Togo and East African neighbours Rwanda.

Their first match will be against Rwanda before playing the Hawks of Togo and final match against Morocco.
