CHAN 2020: Participating Teams Confirmed

The 2020 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers came to an end over the weekend, with the 16 competitors for Cameroon finally being confirmed.

The 2020 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers came to an end over the weekend, with the 16 competitors for Cameroon finally being confirmed.

Several of Africa’s ‘big boys’ will make the trip for CHAN 2020 in January after impressing during their respective qualifying campaigns. However, the likes of Nigeria, Senegal and Ghana will not be taking part.

Togo managed to qualify for the first time while defending champions Morocco qualified for their fifth successive appearance at the biennial championship which is restricted to footballers who play in their country of birth.

DR Congo will go into the tournament with the best-attacking record after scoring 17 goals in qualification, while Egypt and Mali had the most solid defences, conceding just one.

The draw for the CHAN 2020 will take place in a date that will be announced in Cairo while the finals are scheduled to take place between January and February 2020.

Cameroon (hosts), Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Zambia, Namibia, Togo (debut), Morocco, Zimbabwe, DR Congo, Congo, Tunisia, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Niger, Mali.
