CHAN 2018: Hosts Morocco and Sudan Progress to the Semi-Finals.

Hosts Morocco continued their title bid with a routine 2-0 win over Namibia while underdogs Sudan stunned Zambia with a 1-0 win to secure semi-final spots at the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Ayoub El Kaabi scored his 6th of the tournament giving a dominant Morocco side the lead after 37 minutes. The forward finished Walid El Karti’s quickly taken free kick as the Namibians were still organizing their defense to add to his impressive goal account this campaign.
El Kaabi almost scored his seventh but the keeper was up for the challenge clearing the well taken shot away for a corner, that coincidentally resulted into the second goal. Wydad Casablanca’s Salaheddine Saidi headed in the corner to kill off the game early in the second half.
The debutants put up a spirited performance but it was not enough to see off the Atlas Lions. The hosts will now face the winner between Congo Brazaville and Libya who meet today Sunday 28th in the quarter-finals.
In the second quarter final encounter, Sudan continued their fairy tale run with a surprise 1-0 win over favorites Group B leaders Zambia in the second quarter final.
Zambia who were tipped to win the encounter dominated the game from the start but were wasteful in front of goal. Sudan rather took the lead in the 34th minute thanks to Maki Bakhit Saifeldin’s stunner.
Zambia could have equalized in the 54th minute but once more, Lazarus Kambole hesitated to finish and lost a glorious chance.
Sudan will play the winner between Nigeria and Angola who also face off today Sunday 28th in the quarter finals.
