Cameroon Goalkeeper Andre Onana Involved In Car Accident

Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana was involved in car accident just days before his team’s 2022 World Cup playoff against Algeria.

The 25-year-old Ajax star was travelling from the capital city Yaounde to his country’s training camp in Douala when the accident happened this morning.

The front end of his 4×4 vehicle was badly damaged but fortunately no-one was injured.

Several media reports in Cameroon indicate that the former Barcelona star had no injuries after visiting a hospital for a check-up.

The medical report means that the shot-stopper will be available for Cameroon’s World Cup playoff clash against Algeria.

Onana returned to football in January after serving nine-month ban for testing positive for banned substance, Furosemide.

He is expected to leave Ajax this summer on a free transfer, with several clubs including Inter Milan and Arsenal fighting for his signature.

Onana joined Ajax on a free transfer in 2015 and is under contract with the Eredivisie leaders until 2022.

The young goalkeeper made his first-team debut for the four-time European champions on 20 August 2016 against Willem II.

He was part of Cameroon squad that won the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations as well as the Indomitable Lions team that won bronze in 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
