Cameroon national team captain Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has joined Bundesliga side Bayern Munich from France Ligue One giants Paris St-Germain on a one-year deal.

The 31-year-old, who spent two seasons at Parc des Princes after switching from former English Premier League side Stoke City in 2018, joins the German club after the expiry on his contract with PSG.

The German-born goal poacher scored 10 goals in 50 appearances for PSG, where he left in September after struggling to get enough regular game-time last season.

“FC Bayern have signed Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. The 31-year-old striker, who last played for Champions League finalists Paris Saint-Germain, has been handed a contract until 30 June 2021,” an Bayern statement said.

Choupo-Moting had been linked with a possible move to Juventus but PSG seemed reluctant to sell the Indomitable Lions skipper.

The winger was recently in talks with PSG on a possible new deal after his contract expired earlier in the summer. However, the two sides reached a standstill over a disagreement on the duration of the potential deal.

It is now a return for the attacker to Bundesliga as he previously played for at German club Schalke, Hamburg and Mainz where he made 200 Bundesliga appearances before moving abroad.

A former Germany youth international,  Choupo-Moting switched international allegiance to Cameroon in 2010.

He has represented Indomitable Lions for three Africa Cup of Nations finals and 2010 World Cup in South Africa following his debut in 2015.

He excused himself from the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, which the Lions eventually won.
