CAF Begins Inspection of Cameroon Facilities For 2021 CHAN

A Confederation of African Football (CAF) inspection team is down for a final inspection ahead of the CHAN 2021 tournament scheduled to be hosted in Cameroon in between January 16 and February 7, 2021, in Cameroon.

A Confederation of African Football (CAF) inspection team is down for a final inspection ahead of the CHAN 2021 tournament scheduled to be hosted in Cameroon in between January 16 and February 7, 2021, in Cameroon.

The delegation will on Wednesday inspect sporting infrastructure at the Ngoa-Ekelle Stadium, one of the training grounds of the football tournament before travelling to Douala on Thursday where they will inspect the stadia.

On Friday, they will depart to Limbe-Buea where they will meet local leaders before inspecting the stadium, training grounds and hotels.

The delegation will on Saturday hold a joint meeting with the Cameroon Football Federation and the Ministry of Sports, before meeting President Paul Mbiya.

A final press conference will be done later in the day to disclose the outcome of the inspection.

The tournament was originally scheduled to run from April 4 to April 25 this year, but authorities had to freeze the 16-team fiesta owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hosts Cameroon will get the tournament underway with a showdown against one of Southern Africa’s hopefuls, Zimbabwe, at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaoundé.

Defending champions Morocco, 2009 champions DR Congo and 2011 winners Tunisia are among the 16 teams to take part in the tournament.

Others include Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Zambia, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Congo, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Niger, Mali and Togo that is making her debut in the championship.
