Burkina Faso has become the fifth African country to cancel football league season as coronavirus pandemic continues to disrupt campaign across the world, Ducor Sports can report.

The decision was declared on Monday at the end of an emergency meeting between members of Burkina Faso Football Federation (FBF) and the clubs.

FBF, however, announced Rahimo and Salitas will represent the country next season in the CAF Champions League.

The two teams were on top of the Professional League before the season was suspended after coronavirus cases were reported in Burkina Faso.

Railway Club du Kadiogo and Police were well on their way to relegation, occupying the 14th and 15th positions respectively, but will now remain in the Burkina Faso top-flight for next season.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) had written to member associations to inform them of the fate of the 2019/20 season.

The Burkina Faso Professional League was in its match week 24 stage when it was suspended to give room for the national team to prepare adequately for the CHAN finals.
