Breaking: Troubled Tunisian Club Delays Flight a Day After Club Chairman Resigns

Troubled Tunisian Premier League side Club Africain’s departure date to Nigeria has been delayed by 24 hours, Ducor Sports understands.

The capital-based outfit was due to leave the Tunisian shores today evening for its critical group game fixture against Nigeria Professional Football League side, Rivers United. An insider at the club says the travel delay is as a result of logistics problems.

Club Africain was initially scheduled to touch down in Nigeria earlier on Thursday morning, the 29th, but the delay now means the Tunisian Cup holders will arrive in the West African country on Friday, 48 hours before the Total CAF Confederation Cup group game against Rivers United, slated for Sunday.

The announcement comes just a day after the side’s chairman Slim Riahi resigned under pressure as he awaits trial on graft charges.

The club is also facing issues of player contracts with four (Farouk Ben Mustapha, Imed Meniaoui, Said Saibi and Samir Sellimis) of its key stars’ contracts to expire in a day, on July 1st.
