BREAKING: South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs Release Italian Gaffer

Giovanni Solinas has ceased to be South African Premier Soccer League club Kaizer Chiefs’ coach.

Giovanni Solinas has ceased to be South African Premier Soccer League club Kaizer Chiefs’ coach.

The Italian is let go having reached a mutual agreement with the board today to find his way out of the side.

The 50-year-old is released with twenty-four months left of his initial three-year deal.

The development follows the South African outfit’s two-legged defeat to Zimamoto in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round.

Based in Johannesburg, the FNB stadium club are perched on 11th position in the standings on account they’ve managed just a single win in their last five straight outings.

Prior to that, they bit the dust to Golden Arrows 2-1 in the domestic league.

“Kaizer Chiefs and coach Giovanni Solinas have mutually agreed to an amicable termination of his contract with immediate effect. We wish him well,” the club said in a statement.

With the departure of Giovanni, the search for a new club begins for the Amakhosi.
