BREAKING: Players End Strike at Algerian Club MO Bejaia

MO Bejaia players have ended a protest not to train after being paid of their outstanding salaries.

MO Bejaia players have ended a protest not to train after being paid of their outstanding salaries.

Some players claim not to have received bank alerts of salary payments to their accounts for over six months. Bonuses were also said to have been overlooked by the club board who blame the trajectory to financial problems.

Umbraged by the unfolding scenarios, players, after initial efforts to reach out to the team’s president failed, took a drastic step to stage a strike in the form of a refusal to train in the lead up to matches.

No player showed up at the side’s training grounds on Monday as a stand-off ensued.

Laying down condition for re-consideration of their move, the stars said they would only resume drills if the club meets their demand to be paid three months’ salary.

Club president Amar Boudiab was initially reluctant insisting he won’t be pressured and accusing players of being rebellious.

The deadlock ceased after the side’s vice-president handed out cheques before today’s quarter-final game in the Algerian Cup.
