Bandari Coach Mwalala Denies Exit Rumours

Bandari coach Bernard Mwalala says that reports linking him with a switch to the vacant Yanga job are simply not correct.

Bandari coach Bernard Mwalala says that reports linking him with a switch to the vacant Yanga job are simply not correct.

There have been media reports in a section of Tanzanian press alleging that the youthful tactician was about to quit Kenya domestic cup winners and switch to the Jangwani based club.

Speaking to a Kenyan portal Citizen Digital, Mwalala denied that he would take the job in the near future.

“Those are just rumours and I do not normally respond to that,” said Mwalala.

[perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””] “In football, we are used to speculations and of course people make decisions, but if I switch my focus of this club it will be a big mistake. I’m focused on the matches that we have before the international break.”   [/perfectpullquote]

Since taking over from Ken Odhiambo who quit the club for a job in Sudan, Mwalala has had a successful run, guiding the Dockers to the playoff round of CAF Confederation Cup, where they were bundled out by Guinea’s Horoya AC.

Bandari are next in action on Sunday when they meet Ulinzi Stars in a Kenyan Premier League match at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.

The match comes barely three days after a 3-1 thrashing by Western Stima in a mid-week tie at the Moi Stadium in the lakeside city of Kisumu.
