AS Vita striker Jean-Marc Makusu says he is almost ready to return to competitive football after a long injury lay-off.

AS Vita striker Jean-Marc Makusu says he is almost ready to return to competitive football after a long injury lay-off.

The 28-year-old has not played competitively since suffering from a knee injury while turning for Black Dolphins in April last year.

Makusu has played in several friendly matches with his team as they prepare for the beginning of 2020/2021 Linafoot campaign.

“I’m going to play. When I work hard, that means that everything will be fine. I hope to be back to my best,” Makusu told Vea TV as translated from French.

Makusu injury halted his transfer to Moroccan side Renaissance Sportive de Berkane where he was set to join in July 2019 on a three-year deal.

The striker had a stupendous campaign last season when he finished AS Vita’s all-time top scorer having netted 44 goals across all competitions and was the Confederations Cup top scorer.

Makusu joined AS Vita in the 2018 January transfer window after spending a year through the ranks of Egyptian Premier League outfit Wadi Degla.
