Amazulu Target Horoya Scalp In Durban

South Africa’s Amazulu will face off with Guinea’s Horoya AC in the 2021/2022 CAF Champions League on Friday.

Kick-off is at 19h00 GMT.

The Group B game is set to take place at the Moses Madhiba Stadium in South Africa’s city, Durban.

Amazulu succumbed to a 1-0defeat to Moroccan side Raja Casablanca away in their opening Group B game which was played last weekend.

As a result, Usuthu are placed fourth on the group standings – three points behind the leaders, ES Setif of Algeria.

“Overall it was a nice positive experience for us,” said Amazulu coach McCarthy after the narrow loss to the Moroccan side.

“It was a good first match and we’ve got some good recovering to do before travelling to South Africa until we play our next game.

“Hopefully we take many positives from this game into the next match and we can then come away with a victory.”

Usuthu will look to their star midfielder Marouane Hadhoudi, who missed a couple of chances in the match against the Guineans.

The South Africans also do have a number of players who have featured in the Champions League before, mostly through their large contingent of former Orlando Pirates stars.

Meanwhile, Horoya feel to a 1-0 loss to Algerian giants ES Setif at home in their maiden Group B game which was played last weekend.

As a result, the Guinean side is placed third on the group standings and they are behind ES Setif on three points.

Horoya captain Ocansey Mandela is wary of the challenge ahead, but is confident the Guineans can cause an upset in Durban.

“We came here with a lot of respect for our opponents but when it comes to the field of play, it will be a different ball game altogether,” said Mandela at the pre-match presser.

“We know what we are here for and that is a positive result to take back home.”
