Ali Maaloul Extends Al Ahly Stay

Al Ahly have extended the stay of Tunisian international defender Ali Maaloul until the summer of 2024 season.

Maaloul joined the Red Devils in January 2016 and established himself as key figure in helping the Cairo giants win back-to-back CAF Champions League titles, back-to-back CAF Super Cups, and four Egyptian Premier Leagues.

The former CS Sfaxien left-back contract was to end in February next year but the team has confirmed that Maaloul will stay for two more seasons.

“The club is delighted to have signed a new contract with Ali Maaloul. The Tunisian international extends his stay until June 2024!,” Al Ahly said in a statement as translated from Arabic.

Maaloul has been a transfer target for Esperance du Tunis, with reports emerging that the Blood and Gold had offered $3m, causing disagreement between the two clubs.

The Red Devils have previously said that they have prioritised a move abroad for the Carthage Eagles international.

The 31-year-old has made 177 appearances with the Red Devils, scoring 33 goals and provided 51 assists.

Al Ahly are currently leading the Egyptian Premier League teams’ table with 19 points from seven matches.

Al Ahly has won six of its seven games so far and drawn one while third-placed Pyramids  have won five and drawn two games.
