Algerian Giants USM Alger Officially Unveil Kwame Opoku

Algerian giants USM Alger have unveiled new-signing Kwame Opoku following the Ghanaian striker’s arrival from Asante Kotoko.

On Tuesday, the Red and Blacks confirmed that Opoku had signed a long-term deal, a month after the striker dumped the Porcupine Warriors, who are experiencing hard financial times.

Opoku just spent one season with the 24-time Ghana Premier League champions  and made the 600,000 euros move, thanks to 9 goal and five assists in 16 matches in all competitions.

The success in convincing Opoku to snub offers from Egypt where he reportedly had his sights on initially, was primarily down to the relentlessness of his parents and club manager Mounir Zeghdoud.

Opoku joined Asante Kotoko from lower tier side Nkoranza Warriors in the 2019/2020 season and became the Porcupine Warriors’s main source goals before his departure.

The 21-year-old made his Ghana national team debut in the 1-1 draw with South Africa in Johannesburg in a penultimate 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

USM Alger are currently sitting on the 9 position on the Algerian Ligue Proffesionale 1 table, eight points adrift log leaders ES Setif.

Opoku might be given a consideration for their next league fixture against archrivals CR Belouizdad set to be played on March 30 in Algiers.
