Al Ahly President Fines Players $19000 For Losing Egyptian Super Cup

President of Al Ahly SC Mahmoud El Khatib has fined his players an amount of 300,000 Egyptian Pounds for losing Egyptian Cup to El Gaish.

The aggrieved president of the record Africa champions slapped the hefty amount on his players after that surprised 3-2 penalties defeat at the Borg El Arab Stadium.

The surprised decision incurred the wrath of the football fraternity with the hefty amount totally $19000, which is expected to be deducted from player’s salaries.

Al Ahly technical bench members were not spared either as they were fined the same amount, while administrative staff members are set to be deducted fine depending on their salaries.

El Khatib noted that his administration had given the team all the necessary support to win the title and meet the expectations of the fans after losing Egyptian Premier League title to rivals Zamalek.

It is not clear when the deductions will commence from the player’s salary but the decision could lead mass exodus players from the North African side.

Al Ahly dominated the entirety of the normal time in terms of possession but failed to utilize their chances, while El Geish relied on counter attacks which were not fruitful.

The match went to extra-time and then penalties, where the unfancied El-Gaish prevailed 3-2 on the night.
