Al Ahly Extend El Shenawy’s Contract

Al Ahly goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy has extended his contract with the Egyptian Premier League side until 2025.

Al Ahly goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy has extended his contract with the Egyptian Premier League side until 2025.

The 31-year-old, who came through the club’s academy, has kept 12 clean sheets in 16 league appearances this season.

El Shenawy has been in fine form in the last three seasons which has seen him retain Egypt’s first-choice jersey since the 2018 World Cup when he took over from Essam El-Hadary.

His stay at Al Ahly has seen him become the club’s first-choice goalie and arguably the best custodian on the continent.

He has won four Egyptian Premier League titles and two Egypt Super Cups since joining the club from Petrojet in 2016.

A 1.91m tall, El Shenawy has a commanding presence in the air and is also hard to beat in on one-on-one situations.

The shots stopper started his career at second division side El-Hamool before joining Al Ahly Academy in 2002.

He moved from the Cairo giant’s academy in 2009 and started a new football trip representing Egyptian Premier League clubs Talae El-Geish, Haras El-Hodoud and Petrojet.

Last year, El Shenawy was linked with a move to English Premier League giants Manchester United after his impressive displays 2018 World Cup in Russia.
