Al Ahly confirm Walter Bwalya capture

Egyptian Premier League giants Al Ahly have confirmed the signing of Congolese forward Walter Bwalya Binene on a four-year deal.

Egyptian Premier League giants Al Ahly have confirmed the signing of Congolese forward Walter Bwalya Binene on a four-year deal.

The club made the announcement on New Year’s eve just three days after failing to secure the signature of Mamelodi Sundowns striker Gaston Sirino.

Bwalya previously played for another Egyptian side EL-Gouna, a club that he joined at the beginning of 2019 season from Zambian outfit Nkana FC.

Bwalya, who bagged 13 goals in 30 appearances across all competitions last season, becomes Al Ahly’s first signing this year.

The Red Devils’ Head of Marketing and Transfers Amir Tawfik finalized the deal with El Gouna’s representatives while also coordinating with Al Ahly’s President Captain Mahmoud El Khatib.

The 25-year-old Bwalya was linked with a move to Zamalek, Ismaily and Smouha in 2017, but the negotiations fell through.

Al Ahly, meanwhile released the following short statement on the capture of Bwalya without revealing the financial details;

“Welcome Walter Bwalya to the club of the century.”
