Al Ahly Cancels Fines On Players After Derby Win

President of Al Ahly SC Mahmoud El Khatib has cancelled Super Cup fines issued over the players and technical staff following their Cairo Derby win on Friday night.

The aggrieved president of the record Africa champions slapped 300,000 Egyptian Pounds ($19000) after a surprise 3-2 penalties defeat to El Gaish in September.

In a statement released by the club after the team’s historic 5-3 win over Zamalek, El Katib informed players and members of technical staff that he has cancelled the fines.

“Mahmoud El Khatib, Al Ahly President, congratulated Al Ahly players, coaching staff, medical staff, administrative staff, Al Ahly members and Al Ahly fans after the team’s historic 5-3 win over Zamalek on Friday night,” reads the statement.

“El Khatib praised the spirit and the determination of the players during the game and thanked them for the great performance they produced tonight.

“El Khatib also decided to cancel the penalty issued over the team after losing the domestic Super Cup and also decided to grant the team an exceptional bonus after the historic victory.”

Al Ahly inflicted the heavy defeat to their Cairo rivals which marked the White Knights first domestic defeat in 25 games since their 2-1 loss to Al Ahly back in April 2021.
