Senegalese referee Maguette Ndiaye has been assigned by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to officiate the match between DR Congo and Liberia.
The “Leopards” of DR Congo will host the “Lone Star” of Liberia in their final Group G match on Sunday, March 24, at the Stade des Martyrs in Kinshasa following CAF’s dismissal of Liberia’s request to change the match venue over the fear of the Ebola epidemic.
Previously, Ndiaye officiated the match between Liberia and Zimbabwe on November 18, 2018, at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville, Liberia. According to CAF, he will be assisted by the same Senegalese match officials – Djibril Camara will serve as the first assistant referee, while El Hadji Malick Samba will serve as the second assistant referee.
Meanwhile, the Lone Star delegation comprising the full squad, coaches and administrative officials have touched down in Kinshasa, DR Congo, while the Congolese final batch of players arrived in the Central-African Country yesterday, March 20.
In another development, the Congolese Football Federation (FECOFA) has apologized to Liberians for the deportation of Liberia’s Russian-based forward Sylvanus Nimley earlier this week when officials of FECOFA failed to provide the supporting documentation to admit the player into DRC.
LFA Secretary-General Isaac Montgomery has confirmed receipt of the apology communication and added that those involved in the act have been arrested, as stated in the communication.
