AFC Leopards In ‘Advanced Talks’ With Patrick Aussems Over Contract Renewal

Kenyan Premier League side AFC Leopards look set to reveal that coach Patrick Aussems has signed a two-year contract with the side.

Talks between the two parties have been ongoing for some time with a breakthrough in recent days. Aussems is looking to improve his current deal plus bonuses, to reflect the progress that the club has made under his management.

The extension would keep the Belgian gaffer tied to the club till 2023, past his current deal which runs at the end of the season.

Aussems joined Leopards in February on a short-term deal, winning silver in FKF Cup in his six-months in charge, placing Ingwe once again as a domestic force to be reckoned with in regional football.

AFC Leopards are currently heavily linked with a summer move for former Asante Kotoko captain Felix Annan, although much of the deal focuses on the future of goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan, with the Uganda being used as a makeweight in any transfer between the two clubs.

The 55-year-old manager has never stayed longer than three seasons with a club, although it is widely believed that Aussems sees his long-term future at the den with his main focus on returning the club to winning the Kenyan Premier League crown, something they have yet to do since Sunday Kayuniwon the clubs 12th league crown back in 1998.

AFC Leopards are currently third in the Kenyan Premier League after gathering 44 points from 26 games, and 11 points behind table leaders Tusker FC.
