Chad Won’t Renew Coach Tregoat’s Contract

The Chad Football Association won’t be renewing national team coach Emmanuel Tregoat’s contract when it expires at the end of November and is searching for a replacement to lead Les Sao in qualifying for next year’s Africa Cup, Ducor Sports can reveal.

A reliable source at the FA has said its executive committee decided on Sunday to let Tregoat go as he will not have a second chance to handle the team.

Tregoat, ahead of the October international friendlies against Niger and Sierra Leone, promised to win one of the two matches but failed to meet his target.

“The committee gave Tregoat the opportunity to respond and make a presentation, which he did, to deal with all the elements which either assisted or hindered him in achieving his targets,” the source disclosed.

“The committee then retreated and discussed his future and then reconvened with Tregoat.”

He will be allowed to be in charge of the back-to-back 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Guinea early next month.

The 58-year-old gaffer was on a four-year-contract and was tasked with reaching the 2019 Africa Cup and Nations and qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Frenchman Sebastien Migne has emerged as one of the early candidates to take over from Tregoat and a section of fans want him to lead Les Sao following his success with DR Congo, Congo, Kenya and Equatorial Guinea.

It is believed that the coach’s ego and the way in which Treagoat dealt with Bakhit Djibrine before the latter threatened to quit national team, as well as certain decisions during the build-up to the past Nations Cup qualifiers, had made him unpopular.
